there's two scenarios; a BRAND new car will usually show an 'auction' at the first few miles. this is ok and normal. When you see a car being sold via auction with 20k+ miles, 1 of 2 things is happening. the car was totalled, and the insurance agency is auctioning the car off to scrap yards, or sadly, virus dennis. scrap yards use the cars for parts. virus dennis uses the cars for CARS. the other auctions (much more rare) is for reposessions and abandonded vehicles. but these titles will never be 'salvaged'. When I ran the carfax on that lexus, the title showed an 'accident was reported', gave the city/state, the police accident report number, etc. even contact information. then it showed it bouncing from auction to auction (2 or 3). and how a vehicle from newyork, ends up in florida, is auctioned there to someone in texas is beyond my rational thinking. but I know to steer clear.
